Herndon, VA (June 2009) – JNetDirect’s biotechnology division, JNetDirect Biosciences, is pleased to announce a partnership with the Virginia Biosciences Development Center (VBDC) at the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park in Richmond as a Silver Sponsor. JNetDirect Biosciences is a national distributor of biotechnology software, equipment, and supplies headquartered in the Dulles Technology Corridor in Northern Virginia.
“The VBDC is a great incubation program designed to assist start-ups and early stage bioscience companies. JNetDirect Biosciences is proud to become a Silver sponsor for such an outstanding program and we look forward to building strong relationships with all the companies located in the Virginia Biotech Park as well as the companies within the incubation program”, stated Scott Raspa, Vice President of JNetDirect Biosciences.
“Our Biosciences division has seen rapid growth over the last few months even with the downturn in the economy. Labs are looking for lower cost, high quality alternatives to their research supply requirements. Establishing early relationships with new biotech start-up companies by teaming with such organizations as the VBDC, allows us to broaden our footprint and work closely with the future “stars” of the biotech industry.”

About the VBDC
The Virginia Biosciences Development Center is the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park’s biosciences business incubation program located in its 27,000-square-foot incubator facility. Since opening in 1995, 68 companies have started in the Park’s incubator facility, 40 of which have graduated into larger spaces in the Park or greater Richmond community. Graduates of the incubation program include companies such as Insmed Pharmaceuticals, Allos Therapeutics, Commonwealth Biotechnologies and Intelliject.
About the Park
The Virginia BioTechnology Research Park is currently home to a unique mix of more than 55 public and private bioscience companies, research institutes affiliated with the VCU Medical Center and major state and national medical laboratories. These companies are housed in nine buildings totaling more than 1.1 million square feet of space, representing an employee base that exceeds 2,000. The Park’s Biosciences Commercialization Center has been created to take incubator graduates through commercialization to M&A or IPO, giving the Park’s tenants full-scale business assistance. The Commercialization Center, now home to eight companies from the Israeli life science community, continues to expand its resource base and has created alliances with leading incubators in Israel. To date, the Park’s incubator and commercialization center has graduated three companies that are now publicly traded.
